Hi, my name is Marina πŸ‘‹β€¨
I am a self-taught papercut artist

I create intricate paper illustrations from a single sheet of paper with my x-acto knife.

A bit about me

A few years ago, I began creating papercut artworks and was immediately captivated by the process. I had experimented with many different art forms, searching for the one that resonated with me the most.

I stumbled upon the art of papercutting by chance, after spending years drawing, sketching, and painting. I love exploring various crafts, and ultimately, working with paper is what truly captured my passion.

  • Papercutting is an all-inclusive art that requires few tools and minimal materials. All one needs is paper, a cutting mat, and a precision knife. Paper itself is an extremely familiar yet versatile material, and it allows for all sorts of creative expressions.

  • I particularly enjoy a single-sheet papercutting style. There's certainly some magic in turning a clean sheet of paper into a whimsical illustration. I love the free process involved in working with paper and experimenting daily with new patterns, shapes and colour combinations.

  • While I believe monochrome papercuts is my primary art style, I love experimenting with other paper crafts, and I share my process here on my website as well on my Instagram page. Recently I discovered the multi-layered paper diorama technique. I enjoy learning and exploring this style.

  • My papercuts are unique and hand-carved pieces of art. All artworks are made from free imagination and thus there will never be two exactly alike. However, as an overly organised person, I refined my method for creating new artwork: from sketch to final artwork. I wrote a bit about it in my blog (about process and materials). My aspiration for this year is to create a papercutting online course, so more people can learn papercutting craft.

    • I am creating papercuts besides my day job. I work as a Lead UX designer. You can check my product design portfolio here (upon request) and my LinkedIn profile here.

    • I live together with my partner in a rainy but beautiful country of The Netherlands πŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸŒ·

    • I enjoy reading high fantasy books, have a small collection of my favourite coffee cups, and own way too many plants (but not enough).

Thank you for appreciating my craftsmanship!
